DWELL TOGETHER ACCORDING TO KNOWLEDGE...
How well do you know your spouse? I'm not talking about surface stuff like their favorite food or favorite movie (You should know those by the second date >< Wink). I am asking you how well do you know your spouse on a deep level? A happily married couple should be so close that you know what the other one is thinking before they have a chance to speak! You should know when your mate is hurting before they shed one tear! A connection that deep is possible. The two of you are suppose to be one in the same! We need to be tending to our mate's needs as if they were our own! So in tune with each others feelings that eye contact can transmit a thousand words! How do you get your relationship to that level? I am so glad you asked that question. You have to see with your heart, not with your eyes! You have to listen with your heart also. A happily married couple learns how to dwell together according to knowledge (know-how; The knowledge and skill required to do something correctly. Ingenuity, aptitude, or skill; knack)!
There is a line in the movie "Avatar" that the "Na'vi People" would say that I would like to borrow for illustration. In the movie, when the Na'vi would say "I see you", what they were saying went beyond seeing with the eyes. "I see you," meaning I see into who you are and what you are made of! When I heard that statement in the movie...IT BLEW ME AWAY! To take it a step further, the Na'vi people had to literally plug into each other, the animals, and even nature when they needed anything from it. If you haven't seen the movie, I need you to try to picture this in your mind. The characters had hair that actually fused together with whatever animal they needed to ride, making them one (PLUGGED INTO EACH OTHER) before they interacted! The message I received from watching them was, in order for me to use you for my purpose, I must understand the gift you possess and the purpose for which you were given to the world! O.K.!!! If we just stopped right there, we could grow by leaps and bounds! Our spouses are not just objects to be used for our own selfish needs. They are fearfully and wonderfully made beings with their own destiny to fulfill! You were chosen to be apart of that destiny. The magnitude of what marriage was intended to be from the beginning, has been grossly underestimated in our society. I hope you can feel the weight of what I just said. I can't even find the words to write, that properly expresses what I want to convey about this marriage mind set! As mature individuals wanting to be happily married, we must begin to connect with our spouses on a deeper intimate level, such as I just described! YOUR MARRIAGE SHOULD BE A REFLECTION OF ALL THAT IS GOOD, EXCEPTABLE, AND PURE!
Happily married people are ones who have become good listeners! Listen with the purpose of hearing and understanding your spouse. Listening with your heart involves weeding through all the fluff words and finding the core of what they want and need to say. Patience and compassion are traits that we must possess to be spouses that see into one another! Listen intently and you will have a marriage that is unbreakable! Take the time to find out what they are fearful of most. What inspires your mate? What are they most passionate about? Take mental notes as you go on a journey of listening and learning! You should gain a better insight into your spouses personality and inner strengths and weaknesses. No topic should be off limits. Be a keeper of all their secrets! Showing a genuine interest and over time, prove yourself to be worthy of trust! A safe place for your mate to be themselves and not be judged! Your spouse will open up to you like never before when they feel they are actually being heard! You will find yourself adjusting to how you handle them according to what you are learning! You will become the master student and thereby THE PERFECT HUSBAND/WIFEY FOR YOUR TRUE LOVE!
I realize you don't hear this kind of teaching every day and that's why I thought it was so necessary to share! Love needs a voice in this heartless day and time! You must hold on to love with all you have! Believe in love again. I understand what kind of "Mind set" it takes to read this blog and then be inspired enough to act upon what you have learned! It takes a humbled heart, a willing spirit, commitment and determination.... TO DWELL TOGETHER IN KNOWLEDGE AND TO BE HAPPILY MARRIED! O.K.?? O.K.!!
